Factmata's mission is to allow anyone to discern and verify the credibility, quality, safety and reliability of online content. We are building state-of-the-art technology to semi-automatically score and verify news and social media using a combination of an expert network platform for machine learning, and advanced natural language understanding techniques. Our team consists of top researchers in NLP and machine learning, and we are backed by the founder of Twitter, Craigslist, Zynga and Broadcast.com.
Factmata is looking for an engaged and creative frontend developer to help us solve the problem of misinformation online. At Factmata, we are building systems to automatically classify the credibility, quality, safety and reliability of online information, using state-of-the-art machine learning algorithms paired with human expertise.
Your primary task will be to write quality frontend code for our user interfaces, to enable our clients to fully engage with our data APIs, and for our expert moderators to provide feedback to our machine learning models in real-time.
You need to be a design-focused coder, who can prototype UIs and visual interfaces in React, and then turn those prototypes into production-quality applications that integrate with RESTful API backends. Your code should be well-structured, modular and performant on both desktop and mobile.
Current frontend stack: React + Redux, Bulma + custom SASS, Webpack+Babel, connecting to a REST API.
What you'll be doing
- Create and extend user interfaces in React
- Custom styling of the interfaces
- Prototype new products, and take feedback in iterating
- Provide technical guidance to product & design team
What we're looking for
- Proactive and positive attitude with ability to own projects
- Passionate about writing clean, well tested, and maintainable code
- Good CSS & SASS experience
- Rapid prototyping
Bonus points for experience with:
- Building backend web services e.g. REST APIs
- Experience using Redux
- Experience with TypeScript or Flow
Please note the role is based in London, and is an on-site role. You must have existing eligibility to work in the United Kingdom.
